This service is for adults rebuilding their lives after bereavement, divorce, relationship separation, family breakdown or estrangement. You do not need to be at crisis point to contact us.
It may include death of a family member, divorce, the end of a relationship, separation from children, loss of contact with relatives or a serious breakdown in family relationships. We understand that every situation is different.
Estrangement is when contact between family members has significantly reduced or stopped. It may be your decision, another person’s decision or the result of difficult circumstances. We will listen without taking sides or pressuring you to restore contact.
Your support will be based on your needs and circumstances. It may include:
Some support may be provided directly by Mindful Ummah, while other support may be accessed through trusted partners.
No. Counselling may be one part of your support, but our long-term approach can also include regular check-ins, practical guidance, personal goal-setting, supported referrals and help accessing other services.
The length and frequency of support will depend on your circumstances, needs and the availability of our team. We will agree a support plan with you and review it regularly.
Where possible, we will provide a consistent point of contact so you can build a trusted relationship without repeatedly explaining your situation. This may depend on the type of support required and staff availability.
No. Mindful Ummah welcomes people from all backgrounds. Faith-informed support is available when requested, but it will never be imposed.
We will not normally contact relatives or other organisations without your knowledge and consent. Information may need to be shared when there is a serious risk of harm, a safeguarding concern or a legal requirement.
We treat your information with care and respect. What you share will normally remain private within the service. There are limited exceptions where information may need to be shared because of a serious safety risk, safeguarding concern or legal obligation. We will explain this clearly when your support begins.
Yes. You can contact us directly, or a professional or trusted organisation can refer you with your knowledge and consent. Referrals may come from healthcare professionals, social workers, housing teams, schools, community organisations, faith groups or bereavement services.
A member of our team will contact you using the details and preferred contact method you provide. We will arrange an initial conversation to understand your circumstances, priorities and the support you may need. We will then explain what Mindful Ummah and our partners may be able to offer. Submitting the form does not guarantee a place in the programme. We must first confirm that the service is suitable and that we have the appropriate capacity to support you. In any case, our emotional support is always available to you.
